2 Games to Play – with the 42-SSS Card Set (dice not included)

1) Getting to Know Each Other Game (Self-Reflection Game)

Setup:

2-10 players, the 42-SSS card set

This game is about each player answering one question from the Strength-Reflection Card.

1) Pick a player to go first and draw a random strength card from the deck.

For example, the first player draws a random card and answers the first question (“How do you relate to this strength?”).

2) Set a timer for 3 minutes for answering the question and elaborating on the strengths card. (The 3 mins is a maximum so that everyone has time to speak, you can also finish sooner.)

After sharing the answer, the next player draws a random card and answers the second question (“How did you ever over- or underuse this strength?”)

3) Continue going around in a circle clockwise until each person gets a turn. Repeat for a predetermined set of rounds (for example, 2 rounds).

1.b)

In an alternative version of the Strengths-Reflection, each player can answer a question in a random category of 6 life areas:

Setup:

2-10 players, a dice (not included), the 42-SSS card set

1) Pick a player to go first and draw a random strength card from the deck.
2) Roll the dice to reveal the life area (1-6) then read the question:

In this life area (1-6…), what was a situation where I used this strength successfully in the past?

1. Personal & Spiritual Growth,

2. Romantic, Close Friend, or Family Relationships,

3. Work, Career, & Finances,

4. Health, Wellness, & Emotional Well-Being,

5. Community Life & Social Impact,

6. Enrichment: Creative Projects, Adventure, & Exploration)

3) Set a timer for 3 minutes for answering the question and elaborating on the strengths card. (The 3 mins is a maximum so that everyone has time to speak, you can finish sooner.)

Go around in a circle clockwise until each person got a turn. Repeat for a predetermined set of rounds (1 to 3 rounds usually).

2) Strength-Spotting Party Game (Voting Game)

Setup: 3-8 players, a 4-sided dice for each player (not included), the 42-SSS card set

  • Give each player a 4-sided voting dice.
  • Draw 4 strength cards for player #1, put them in line (from #1 to #4) in way that everyone can see.
  • Ask “What is this player’s highest strength of these 4?”. Then all players vote from 1 to 4 for this players’s highest strength, by covering their dice with their hands and positioning the dice at a given number. However, the person who’s chosen votes not for what he/she thinks their highest strength is but for what most others would think his/her highest strength may be.
  • When everyone is ready, everybody lifts their hands to reveal their chosen number, representing a strength.
  • Scoring: Each player gets a point for each other person who voted the same strength. (For example, If one player votes “2” and two players vote “3”, then the player who voted 2 gets zero points and the players who voted 3 get one point each.)
  • Track score points on a sheet of paper.
  • Discuss: Were the votes surprising for anyone? Does the chosen person’s opinion of his/her highest strength match with the other’s opinions?
  • Repeat, for each player for a predefined number of rounds (for example, 5 rounds) then see who won with the highest score.

Variations: the 4-sided dices can be replaced by regular dices or cards numbered 1-4.
