Do’s:
Here are some tips for making the Soul-Signature Strengths card set a daily habit:
- Link to Existing Habits: Incorporate drawing a card into your morning routine—draw a card while enjoying your coffee, or tied to your meditation.
- Carry It with You: Keep the card set in your pocket or purse for easy access. Use it as a conversation starter with friends or colleagues throughout the day.
- Set Notifications: Schedule daily reminders on your calendar or other app to prompt you to draw a card and reflect on its significance, helping keep the habit consistent.
- Keep it fun: Try out tarot spreads with your friends, play it as a game, or learn a magic card trick.
When drawing a random card: shuffle the deck until the position of all cards are unknown, then draw the top card. This is the easiest way. (A 2-minute tutorial to shuffle and mix the cards in an easy way can be found here on YouTube.)
An easy way to make someone else draw a card is to 1) make them formulate where they want guidance in their life (for example, their work) then 2) start shuffling the deck and tell them when to stop. Then when they say stop, 3) simply give them the top card.
At the same time, feel free to use your own method of drawing a card. (For example, If you like to spread the cards face down into a fan and pick a card, or have any other method feel free to do so.) – Ultimately what matters is that you feel like you draw the card that is meant for you and take full ownership for your draw.
If the text on the card for you is too small to read, consider using your phone’s cemare app as a magnifying glass.
Don’t:
Don’t draw too many cards. For example, don’t draw a new card until you have taken sufficient action on your previous card. Remember, the card you draw is always right. – Once you are familiar with the strengths, you can try drawing 2 cards for a daily draw.
Don’t get too hung up on the definition of each strength. The definitions serve for examples to give you an idea about the strength, yet the strength’s meaning goes beyond the description. For example, the strength “Assertiveness” is not necessarily always about speaking up for yourself, but in can show up in any other form of being assertive.
